Holistic Ayurvedic Pregnancy Care and Doula-Led Techniques to Help You Feel Ready, Calm and Supported for Birth Reducing birth anxiety and helping you step into labour with genuine confidence. Preparing for childbirth is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself and your baby.

Preparing for Childbirth with Expert Ayurvedic Guidance

Confident. Supported. Ready.

Welcoming a child into the world is one of the most extraordinary things a person can experience. It is full of anticipation, emotion and, if we are honest, quite a lot of questions. At Keyajee Ayurvedic Clinic, our Virtual Birth Preparation Consultation is here to give you genuinely personalised, evidence-informed support, rooted in the ancient science of Ayurveda, so that you feel physically ready, mentally settled and emotionally supported as your birth approaches.

Led by Vaidya Seema Datta, a certified childbirth educator and Ayurvedic pregnancy specialist with over 25 years of clinical experience. These sessions bring together time-tested Ayurvedic treatment for pregnancy with the very best of modern birth education, all from the comfort of your own home.

Whether you are planning a hospital birth, a water birth or a natural home delivery, we shape every session around you. Our goal is simply to help you feel as ready, calm and confident as possible when the moment comes.

What to Expect in Your Consultation

Understanding the Stages of Labour

One of the most reassuring things we can give you is a clear, honest picture of what to expect. We walk you through each stage of labour, from the very first signs right through to active labour, transition and delivery, so that when things start happening, you know what your body is doing and you can respond with calm rather than worry.

Understanding the physiology of birth, including how Ayurvedic principles describe the natural downward energy (Apana Vata) that governs labour, helps you trust your body and work with it rather than against it.

Pain Management
Techniques

We share safe, natural ways to manage discomfort and stay centred throughout labour, including:

  • Breathing techniques
  • Positioning and movement during labour
  • Gentle Ayurvedic massage
  • Relaxation tools and affirmations
  • Herbal oils and Ayurvedic pain support

We also provide guidance for those considering medical pain relief, helping you make informed choices that feel right for your birth preferences.

Creating a Personalised Birth Plan

We help you put together a thoughtful, realistic birth plan that reflects your values and wishes. Whether you are hoping for a natural birth or a more medically supported experience, your plan will help you feel prepared and in control on the day.

Baby-Led Birth: A Sacred
Journey

As birth approaches, mother and baby remain deeply connected, communicating in quiet, instinctive ways. The mother holds space with love and trust, while the baby senses the time has come to begin the journey outward.

In this gentle unfolding, the baby leads the birth, guided by nature’s rhythm and the mother’s steady presence. Together, they create the conditions for a safe, empowering and even joyful birthing experience.

“Birth is a journey the baby leads with the mother holding space.”

Postpartum Planning and Recovery

We also help you prepare for the early postnatal period, offering Ayurvedic guidance on:

  • Nutritional support and healing foods
  • Herbal supplements for lactation and energy
  • Physical strength rebuilding
  • Emotional wellbeing and the mental health transitions of new motherhood

Birth Preparation for High-Risk Pregnancies

If your pregnancy has been classified as high-risk, you deserve support that genuinely understands your situation. Our approach to childbirth preparation for high-risk pregnancies is careful, compassionate and always adapted to your individual medical picture.

Through virtual consultations, we give you direct access to expert Ayurvedic pregnancy care without the added strain of frequent in-person appointments. We stay closely involved throughout your pregnancy, making sure every part of your preparation is properly looked after.

Our support goes well beyond the physical. We know that carrying a high-risk pregnancy can feel isolating and emotionally exhausting. The anxiety, the uncertainty, the feeling that the birth experience you hoped for might not be possible. We are here for all of that too, not just the clinical side of things, because nobody should have to navigate this on their own.

We work alongside your medical team, offering complementary Ayurvedic treatment for pregnancy that supports your body’s resilience, eases stress and helps you feel as prepared and settled as possible in the lead-up to your birth.

What Our Clients Say
— Mehek Premjee

When I first approached Dr Seema, I had no idea how central she would become to my journey into motherhood. Her Ayurvedic Pregnancy and Postpartum Programme was simply incredible. She has an extraordinary ability to read the body’s energy and an instinct for knowing exactly what is needed.

I started working with her in my final six weeks of pregnancy. Her stomach massages kept me comfortable, reduced bloating and improved my digestion. The foot reflexology sessions targeting different organs were wonderful. In our two hour sessions, she would work on whichever part of the body needed attention using Ayurvedic techniques.

What surprised me most was the mindset work. I was not expecting to get so much from it. It was subtle but genuinely effective. I felt so much more positive and prepared going into labour, especially when it came to trusting my instincts and doing things as naturally as possible.

She was texting with me throughout my labour and was there for me one hundred per cent, helping me understand what the doctors and hospital team were saying, and even willing to drive to London to support me through my contractions in person.

We began the postpartum treatments the day after I came home from hospital. The recovery was remarkably quick. She brought massages to help my uterus shrink back and reduce bloating, herbs and teas timed to different stages of the postnatal period, a portable steam and sauna tent for my bathroom, a cotton belly wrap and more mindset support around my delivery experience and adjusting to life as a new mum.

I cannot recommend Dr Seema highly enough. You cannot put a price on good health, and I will absolutely be calling on her again for baby number two.
